Cold wash, gentle cycle, tumble dry low or hang. No bleach, no softener. That keeps the print bright and the loops soft.
Why the two sides feel different
The Our Cozy Magic towel is printed by dye sublimation, which bonds ink into polyester fibers. So the print side is smooth polyester, and the back is cotton terry loop for absorbency. You dry off with the cotton side. You lie on the print side. The towel is a polyester-cotton blend overall, and it dries faster than an all-cotton towel.
Washing
- Shake out sand before it goes in the machine.
- Wash cold with similar colors on a gentle cycle. Hot water can dull sublimated color over time.
- Skip fabric softener. It coats the cotton loops and makes them less absorbent.
- No bleach. It will lift the print.
Drying
Tumble dry low, or hang it over a rail. High heat is the one thing that will shorten the life of the print. Do not iron the print side. Do not dry clean.
Sunscreen and chlorine
Rinse the towel in fresh water after pool or ocean use. Chlorine and salt left to dry in the fibers stiffen the cotton side. Sunscreen can stain the polyester side; treat the spot with mild soap before washing.
Size and use
It is 30 by 60 inches, a standard beach size. People also use it as a couch throw and a picnic blanket. The white field around the badge shows dirt more than a patterned towel would, which is the trade for keeping the artwork as the focus.
